Covid Disability Archive

Frequently Asked Questions

Why have you set up this archive?

Disability history is notoriously difficult to research. There are very few sources that come from Disabled people, rather than talking about Disabled people. Similarly, during the pandemic Disabled people have been disproportionately affected but barely mentioned. This archive will rectify both of those issues.

Who can submit?

This is open to anyone who considers themselves disabled/chronically ill. Therefore, if your disability/chronic illness has developed during the pandemic (for example, long covid or an existing illness which has deteriorated during the pandemic to the level you now consider yourself disabled) you are welcome to submit. We welcome submissions from those who are neurodiverse, mentally ill or have any other kind of long term impairment or condition.

What can I submit?

Anything can be submitted, memorials, art, screenshots, texts, letters, videos, writing, memes, news stories, social media posts. Anything that illustrates your experience as a Disabled/chronically ill person during this time.

Do I have anything good enough?

Yes, absolutely. Anything is good enough, because an archive is to showcase the truth, not the best thing. Anything helps tell the story. Anything can be submitted, memorials, art, screenshots, texts, letters, videos, writing, memes, news stories, social media posts.

How do I submit?

Take some time to go through your social media from the last year, or photos, or important mail, or screenshots, or news websites, or hashtags you know lots of people have used, or sketchbooks, or texts, or emails, or things you bought online. Find the ones that have a clear memory behind them of this time. Get a digital version (photo is great, or scan, or word document, or pdf, or mp4, or a url, any file format). Then upload them to this website, or email them to CovidDisabilityArchive@gmail.com
